As to the architecture, nearly all styles that have ever existed in the colonial period of Mexico were combined. The front of the temple consists of pink stones with ornaments and reliefs, where as inside the monastery, the well-preserved wall paintings are particularly interesting. 4 Visit of the mining hacienda Santa María Regla Duration: 01:30 h · Level: Easy The Hacienda Santa María Regla from the 18th century impresses the visitor with spectacular fountains, huge fortress walls, and a glorious history. It once was the residence of Pedro Romero de Terreros, the first count of Regla. The spectacular geometric basalt columns formed as a result of shrinkage during the cooling of lava. At several places, water flows down the columns in elegant rivulets and feeds the San Antonio Regla reservoir.
