Opened by Francisco Toledo in 2006, the center intends to provide a framework for the artistic interaction of people from different cultural groups so as to strengthen and support their creativity, tolerance, and fellow feeling. The CASA is financed by state and private foundations. The temporary exhibitions in the 1883-built former spinning and weaving plant are supplemented and completed by innovative workshops (production of digital and traditional graphics, textile design, and dyeing) and a library with more than 3,000 volumes. 8 Hike to the Pelado Chiquito summit Duration: 10:00 h · Level: Difficult In La Cumbre, at an altitude of 2,900 m (9,500 ft.), you start your hike with a local guide. After about 3 hours, you reach the viewpoint of Pelado Chiquito at 3,400 m (11,150 ft.). As you are rising, the vegetation changes from moss-coated oaks in the cloud forests to clear pine forests. The views of the plain of Oaxaca are spectacular.
