In its heyday, the Mayan city controlled Palenque as well as Tikal and Copán in Honduras. The city in the rain forest on the border with Guatemala is famous for its steles, reliefs, and sculptures. Prominent buildings are the Acropolis, the Royal Palace, and the hieroglyphic stairs with panels illustrating ball game scenes. 11 Boat trip through the Sumidero Canyon Duration: 01:30 h · Level: Easy Start for a boat trip through the magnificent Sumidero Canyon. During a walk along the shore, while climbing the stairs or crossing the wooden bridges, you will experience the breathtaking atmosphere of the waterfalls in the lush vegetation of the jungle.
