The annual rainfall in this area reaches up to 3,500 mm (c. 140 in.) at temperatures often exceeding 40°C (104°F). These extreme conditions allow an incredible number of species to thrive – gigantic trees rise out of the impenetrable thicket, and precious woods are adorned with hanging lianas. If you are lucky, you will encounter crocodiles, macaws, tapirs, harpy eagles, toucans, snakes, and countless insects. 43 Hike through the virgin Lacandon jungle Duration: 01:00 h · Level: Difficult Hike through the mysterious and untouched Lacandon jungle, in the immediate vicinity of the hotel.
