Snorkelling and diving often reveal sea turtles, including green and hawksbill turtles, along with large schools of tropical reef fish; dolphins are occasionally sighted. During a tour of the huge harbor facilities, which extend mainly on the right bank of the river down to its mouth, you will learn more about its importance. One of the harbor’s main activities is the shipment of grain, but Tuxpan also features extensive facilities – re-enlarged in 2017 – for the global transport of containers. Turning your attention to the left bank, you will first perceive the military part of the harbor and then – immediately at the mouth of the river – the vast oil terminal.
